Joshua Robert Olwell

Joshua Olwell, 36, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on July 18 after his battle with cancer.

Josh lived life on his own terms. He was a champion of laughter, unforgettable shenanigans, and countless tales better left untold. He possessed a restless, daring spirit who found peace walking along the shoreline hunting for the next rock to add to his collection. His stubbornness was undeniable, and he was fiercely strong willed; underneath it all, he was kind-hearted and loyal to his people.

He is survived by his mother Theresa Franssen; his sons David Retallic and Adrian Olwell; his sisters Jessica (David) Steinhoff, Leslie Olwell, Alexis Bancroft, and Amanda (Kris) Grashorn; his brother Jonathan Bancroft; his grandmother Diane Dellaca; and 13 nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Olwell.

Josh will be deeply missed, but we find comfort remembering him at peace-fishing rod ready and pockets full of rocks. A celebration of life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15th at the Littlefield Recreation Area beach shelter in Exira, IA.
