John Ray Tarney

John Tarney passed away peacefully at Parkridge Care Facility on May 14, 2023 with his buddy, Eddie, by his side.

John was born on November 9, 1952 to Walter and Earlene Tarney of Des Moines, Iowa. He lived in Des Moines his whole life and worked for KFC for 20 years as a head fry cook. He retired in 2008 after having a stroke. John was a generous person, especially to his great nieces who lovingly called him "Turkey." He enjoyed watching Monday Night WWE Wrestling and watching old westerns, mostly John Wayne.

John is survived by his sister, Pam (Eddie) Killen; son, Patrick Tarney; nephew, Jesse (Tara) Killen; 4 great nieces; 2 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew Jason.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
