John David Stromberg

John David Stromberg, age 72, of Des Moines, was born on January 6, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away on October 29, 2024, in Des Moines. John was the beloved son of John and Marilyn (née Andersen) Stromberg and spent his childhood in the Highland Park neighborhood of Des Moines and Arkansas. He graduated from East High School and soon after joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country for four years. During his service, John was stationed in Newfoundland and took courses at San Diego State University, graduating with the class of 1974.

Upon returning to Iowa, John married Tricia Crook and pursued further education. At 31, he attended Iowa State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Electronics. His career led him to Illinois, where he worked as an Electronics Technician for Motorola, a role he held for many years. Later, he returned to Des Moines and joined the VA as a File Clerk, a position he held from 2007 until his retirement in 2011.

John had a passion for music, particularly 70s rock, and found joy in flight, earning his aviation license and taking up drone flying. He was also an enthusiastic member of the local Scanner Club. His warm spirit and many interests will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Tricia; children, Lewis (Tracy) Miller, Diana Petersen and Michael Crook; grandchildren, Nathaniel Petersen, Gabriel Petersen and Avalee Petersen; siblings, Mark Stromberg, Tim Stromberg and Diana Rappa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
