John Robert Rademacher

June 1, 1944 — March 26, 2023

John Robert Rademacher, age 78, passed away on March 26, 2023 at Green Hills Health Care Center.

John was born June 1, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dorothy Anna "Walker" and Warren Adolf Rademacher. John spent his early childhood in the Wisconsin area around extended family and friends. Summers were spent vacationing at North Lake swimming, boating, and fishing. The family relocated to Ames, Iowa in 1955.

John attended Ames High School, graduating in 1962. John furthered his education at Waldorf Junior College where he was the choir president, created a radio station, and instigated dances and pizza parties. He was a member of the football team which was inducted into the Waldorf Hall Of Fame in 2017 for their 8-0 1962 season. John also attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

John was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Goettsch May of 1965 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, just 4 days after receiving his draft notice. After a short honeymoon, John enlisted in the Army Reserves. John promised life would never be boring and he fulfilled that promise from the very start.

John worked for Montgomery Wards as a credit manager in Ames, Omaha and Poplar Bluff before breaking out on his own. John was quite the entrepreneur owning several businesses throughout his career, from a slot car race track, hot tub rental company, Iowa Irrigation Company, internet company, foam Insulation company, a software company and a rep Agency. In 1969 he joined Warrens Rep Agency, R.B. Associates and worked at expanding the sales in Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota and Illinois. As he approached retirement, John merged his company with the Richard Brothers to become InDepth Marketing LLC. He remained active until his retirement.

John's goal was to take his 57' motor-yacht "About Time" down the Mississippi River to Marathon, FL and live aboard during the winters. John loved boating, traveling, fishing, and too many motorhome trips to count with his kids and grandkids for another "Trip of a Lifetime."

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Gloria; their two children, son Bryan John Rademacher(Rachel)of Huxley, IA and daughter Megan Jon Nicol(Nathan) of Wichita, KS; 5 grandchildren Hunter Jon Rademacher, Adam John Rademacher, Alex James Rademacher, Kayla Jade Nicol and Wyatt James Nicol; sister, JoAnn Sellers of Vail, AZ; brother-in-law Richard Goettsch(Debra) FL; nieces and nephew, Michelle Dryden(son James) of AZ; Jennifer Sell(daughters -Kristen, Emma, Anna and Serenity) of CA and Jim Sellers(Kristy) (daughters, Carolyn, Cora and Abby) AR, Andrea Goettsch, NC and Michael Goettsch, IA. They were all the loves of his life. John was proceeded in death by his grandparents, parents, in-laws, brother-in-law, aunts, uncles and two cousins.

We would like to extend our thanks to John's friends, employees, and business associates for their participation in making his life well lived, rewarding and never boring!

The family would also like to offer a very special "Thank You" to his devoted staff at Green Hills Health Care Center, Suncrest Hospice and his Doctors and Nurses at McFarland Clinic for their care, compassion and friendship.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Bethesda Lutheran Church or Ames High School Class of 1962 reunion committee.

A "Celebration of Life" will be scheduled at a later date.
