John Charles Jontz (77),

Beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed 07/13/2026 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. A Celebration of Life service was held Saturday, July 25th from 10am - 2pm in Woodward, IA.

John Jontz, born May 13, 1949, in Riceville, Iowa, was the son of John Leo Jontz and Leora B. Jontz. A lifelong resident of Central Iowa, John possessed a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit and an unwavering dedication to hard work. Proudly self-employed for more than 40 years, he built a successful career first as a private investigator and later as a painting contractor. He founded Jontz Painting, a family business that reflected his strong work ethic, and commitment to serving his community and surrounding areas.

John was an honest and caring man who found great joy in spending time with family and friends, caring for his beloved dog, and enjoying the outdoors. A baseball fan and admirer of wildlife, John especially enjoyed painting and restoring things, taking pride in bringing beauty and new life to all he touched. He was always willing to help others through difficult times and has touched many lives.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Jontz and Jeremy Jontz; daughter-in-law, Renee Jontz; granddaughters; Kurren, Leora, Lilly, and Daisy; and many cherished friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Leo Jontz and Leora B. Myers, and his son, Thomas Jontz.

In leu of flowers, Contributions may be made to John Jontz Memorial Fund at City State Bank, Venmo @JohnJontzMemorial. All contributions will be donated to Rippey Baseball Field in Rippey, IA.
