Jessie Lee Harris

Jessie Harris, 67, of Des Moines, passed away on June 10, 2023 at the Fleur Heights Nursing and Rehab Facility in Des Moines. He was born on February 27, 1956 in Starkville, Mississippi.

Jessie worked as a dedicated cook, serving and cooking food for many guest for over 35 years. He created many wonderful meals that folks could enjoy. He also liked to get away from work and found peace in fishing. Fishing provided a great way to escape the reality of the world and appreciate the wonderful outdoors.

Jessie leaves behind a legacy of delicious meals, shared laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Harris; son, Fredzzie Tyler; sisters, Lucy Thames, Mary Johnson, and Patricia Jackson; brothers, Robert Billups, and Charles Phillips; and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephews, Shannon Thames, Willie Thames, and Larnell Brown; niece, Bev Billups; and sister-in-law, Rose Billups. He was preceded in death by his parents.
