Jeffrey Snowgren

Jeffrey Daniel Snowgren passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2024. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2024 at Simplify Cremation and Funerals Chapel, 4821 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2024 at The Range Restaurant and Cocktail Bar.

Jeffrey was born June 18, 1980 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Rodney and Kelly Snowgren. Jeff dedicated decades of his life to his passion in culinary arts. His career consisted of working as the executive chef at different restaurants over the years including: Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, A.J. Steakhouse at Prairie Meadows Casino and The Range Restaurant and Cocktail Bar. He achieved many culinary awards in his lifetime including, 2015 People's Choice Award for Iowa Top Chef.

Jeff was a jack of all trades and an entrepreneur. He had a zest for life and many interests and passions. He was a partner in the creation of a line of seasonings and rubs. Jeff enjoyed woodworking and fractal burning. He was also a collector of many things. Jeff loved listening to metal music and going to concerts.

Jeff had a magnetic and charismatic personality and many friends and acquaintances. Above all, Jeff was a family man. He loved spending time with his children and loved ones. He enjoyed gatherings and sports games, wrestling matches and Friday nights at the football field.

Jeff is survived by his children, Makayla, Kyle and Rebecca Snowgren; grandson, Maxwell Snowgren; spouse, Stevie Pettinger and her son, Nathan McCleese; his parents, Rodney (Susan) Snowgren and Kelly Snowgren; siblings, Justin Snowgren, Jake Cotten, Jamie Cotten and Kalem Snowgren, as well as extended family. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Maxine Hooker; grandfather, Terry Plumber and a cousin, Jessica Heithoff.
