Jeffrey Petty

Jeffrey Scott Petty died unexpectedly at his home on June 17, 2025. Jeff was born October 15, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa to Alva Leroy and Mary Margaret Petty. He attended Longfellow Elementary School, Amos Hiatt Junior High School and graduated in 1977 from East High School. Jeff enjoyed sports especially the game of tennis and had a number of jobs where he taught tennis. He lived for a time in Tucson, AZ before returning to Des Moines. Jeff also enjoyed music and growing and eating his tomatoes and hot peppers.

Jeff is survived by his dog, Zeus who has been his companion for the past several years. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Walter and her children, Amy, Robert (wife, Krystle and their children, Jackson and Penelope), and Susan; his brother, Kirk (wife, Bobbi) and their child, Nicholas; as well as numerous cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stephen and Raymond.

Jeff requested to be cremated with no formal funeral services. His urn will be interred at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
