James (Jim) Conrad Wiskow passed away on Monday, May 13th, 2024 after a very short and undeserved battle with Esophageal Cancer. Jim was born on May 26th,1953 in West Bend, Wisconsin to Harvey and Norma (Fagernes) Wiskow. Jim entered the world very early and began his fight from the very beginning. He was born totally blind with Cerebral Palsy and was later diagnosed with Epilepsy. He spent his childhood in Germantown, Wisconsin where he quickly developed a love for sports, specifically all Wisconsin sports.
Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan. He regularly followed Packers updates throughout the year and was always ready to discuss the coaching, how ridiculous the pay was for the players, and every game in detail. His weekly texts during Packer games will be missed!
Jim was also a big fan of music and broadcasting and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He spent his early adult years as a DJ and loved Jazz, Big Band and classic Rock n' Roll. He was still listening to his favorite music right up to the very end. Jim was an Amateur (HAM) Radio Operator for many years as well, actively participating in several clubs until their move to Iowa in 2017.
Jim spent several years working for the Catholic churches in Blair and Whitehall, Wisconsin, where he met his devoted wife of 43 years, Suzanne. They were married on May 23rd, 1981 and spent most of their lives together in Blair, Arcadia, and LaCrosse, WI before moving to Iowa to be closer to their only grandchild. Jim's love for Iowa was limited, but he quickly discovered a deep appreciation for the Iowa State Fair and his beloved pork chop on a stick.
While Jim's life was restricted physically, he enjoyed many years full of experiences, dedicated family and a never-ending network of friends. Jim is survived by his wife Sue (Des Moines, IA); one daughter, Julie (Jeff) Tuttle of Des Moines, IA; one granddaughter, Marilyn Tuttle of Des Moines, IA; and his sister Susie (Jeff) Winn of Whitewater, WI; along with nieces, nephews and many wonderful cousins.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Taryn; his brother Mike; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17 th at New Life Lutheran Church in Norwalk, IA with visitation being held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. A burial service will be held in Buffalo City, WI at a later date.
