James Allen Michael

James "Jim" Allen Michael, age 63, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on May 28, 2026.

Born on March 20, 1963, in Des Moines, Jim was the son of Bruce and Rebecca (Hiegel) Michael. He grew up in the Des Moines area and built a life centered around hard work, family, and the people and passions he loved most.

Jim spent many years working as an auto mechanic. He took great pride in his work and especially enjoyed his time at Blake's Auto Body in Des Moines, where he formed lasting friendships. Whether under the hood of a car or helping a friend with a repair, Jim was always happiest when he was working with his hands.

One of the greatest joys of Jim's life was sharing his love of motorcycles with his wife, Kathy. Together they embraced the motorcycle lifestyle, spending countless hours on the open road, attending events, making memories, and enjoying the freedom and camaraderie that came with riding. Their shared adventures created a lifetime of stories and experiences that Jim treasured deeply.

Above all, Jim loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with those closest to him and was proud of his children and grandchild. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his mechanical skills, his love of motorcycles, and the loyalty he showed to his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his children, Amanda Michael (Jonathan Howe) and James Michael; his granddaughter, Candice Kain; and his siblings, Reda, Kathy, and Timmy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Beveridge; his parents, Bruce and Rebecca Michael; and his brother, Bruce Michael.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
