James Thomas Lynch, 73, of Des Moines, died Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Southminster in Charlotte, NC.
Military Burial Services will be Friday, October 14, 2022 at 9:30 AM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
Jim was born December 23, 1948, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Thomas and Rita (Brennan) Lynch.
He graduated from Seton Hall with his Master's degree.
James was a United States Marine Veteran, serving from 1969 - 1975, during the Vietnam War, earning many medals and awards.
James worked in marketing for Performance Marketing, United Way, McLellan Marketing, Veritas Marketing, Pepsi Marketing and Famous Amos Marketing.
He believed in living life to the fullest. He ate, drank and enjoyed a good laugh. Jim loved the Rolling Stones, the New York Yankees and never missed a Notre Dame football game. Go Irish! His favorite food was Italian, but he also loved a good Prime Rib, French Onion soup and a martini. Jim was wounded in Vietnam, but still re-enlisted. He never missed a day of working out, except on Sundays. Jim was a good Catholic. He enjoyed vacations with his kids and trips to Disney and Universal Studios. Jim's favorite place to go each year was Okoboji. He had a wonderful dog named Sawyer, who he spoiled rotten. Jim had a great relationship with his children and was always there to help them when they needed it. He was a good friend. Jim never held a grudge. He survived cancer and the pandemic. Jim was not afraid to die and had faith it would all work out in the end.
Survivors include his two children, Mckenna Lynch and Dalton Lynch, both of Des Moines; his grandchild, Abel Williams and his brother, Brian Lynch.
