James "Jim" Lawrence Webb of Ankeny, Iowa passed away Friday, March 17th in his home. He was holding his wife, Karen's hand with his dogs Zoey and Zeus nearby.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Alta Vista, Iowa, Jim's hometown, on June 10, 2023.

Jim was born on August 6th, 1949 in New Hampton, IA, making him the oldest son of Russell and MaryAnn (Elenz) Webb.

Jim spent most of his life in Alta Vista, IA, where he grew up on the family farm and returned to raise his children. He and his wife, Karen, also lived in Mesa, AZ for several years. He loved the sunshine, golfing year round and having Karen's family close by. They ended up moving to Ankeny, Iowa in the early 2000s to be closer to friends and their large extended family.

Jim served a combat tour in Vietnam and was a proud Army veteran. He was a welder and metal fabricator by trade. He took great pride in his work and ran his own business for several years.

In his free time, Jim loved being outdoors. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He was a great cook who especially loved to barbecue. His favorite thing was to enjoy these activities with his friends and family.

Jim was known to speak his mind but also equally known to do anything to help friends, family or even strangers. He had a quick wit and loved to joke. He had a soft spot for dogs and babies. Jim especially adored his 3 granddaughters and loved being a Papa.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Russell and MaryAnn, sister Linda, and brother Bill.

Jim is survived by his loving family: wife Karen; daughter Tamara (Paul); son Todd (Megan); and granddaughters Sasha, Mikhayla and Arianna; and beloved dogs, Zeus and Zoey.

Simplify Cremations & Funerals Iowa, Des Moines, IA. is in care of the arrangements.
