James Albert Houseman, Jr.

James Albert Houseman Jr. (aka Big Jim) unexpectedly passed away at the age of 67 on August 19th, 2023. He was born and raised on the Southside of Des Moines, Iowa by his mother Ruby (Brown) Houseman and father James Albert Houseman Sr.

He is survived by his only daughter Michelle Houseman (Kent). His siblings Robert (Carol) Houseman, Mike Houseman, Yvonne (Mike) Huddleson, God Brother Chad (Debbie) Piper, several niece, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents James and Ruby Houseman and a baby sister.

James was an avid outdoorsman. When he wasn't racing, he was hunting, fishing or spending time with his horses Maverick, Sundog, and Keelee.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Elks Lodge #98; located at 5420 NE 12th Avenue, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327. We welcome anyone that knew Big Jim to come celebrate and share stories. We are asking everyone to wear their favorite racing shirt in honor of Big Jim and his passion for racing.
