Jackie Rae Cox

Jackie Rae (Jose) Cox of West Des Moines, IA, passed away April 25th, 2026, at the age of 68. Jackie was born on March 16th, 1958, in Des Moines, IA, to John and Alsenna (Shiffer) Jose. She attended Howe Elementary and Weeks Middle School in Des Moines until she and her mother moved to Altoona, IA, where she graduated from SE Polk High School. She later attended Des Moines Area Community College, where she earned a degree in Business.

Jackie had two children, Raymond L. (Mike) Cox III (Patience) of Des Moines, IA, Courtney (Cox) Lucas (Brian) of West Des Moines, IA, and three grandchildren: Gracie Lynn, Tahlia, and Damian. She loved them all so much.

Jackie also had three siblings: Jo (Jose) Saffell of Urbandale, IA, Diana (Jose) Wood-Jackson (Gene) of Tucson, AZ, and John Z. Jose (Sheri) of West Des Moines, IA. She was also very fond of her nephews, Frank Miller (Michelle), Tom Wood, Jeff Wood (Jenn), and Russell Saffell (Jen), and her niece, Ella (Miller) Starkey.

Jackie was a devout member of Hope Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, IA, and had too many friends and cousins to name. She fought cancer until she could no longer handle the pain and side effects that came from the treatments. She passed peacefully in her sleep.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alsenna Jose, and several aunts and uncles.
