Irvin Lee Hubbard

Irvin Lee Hubbard, 84, of Clive, Iowa, passed away on May 17, 2026, at Walnut Ridge.

Irv was born on March 2, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Washington High School where he excelled at basketball. He was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa and honorably served in the United States Army.

On December 29, 1962, Irv married the love of his life, Sue. Together they built a great life and were never far from each other. A true love story lasting over 60 years.

Irv spent almost all of his working life as a pension group manager at Principal Financial Group where he had a career for over 3 decades.

Irv enjoyed many different sports but especially loved golf and fishing. In his younger years he loved fishing weeks in Canada with friends coming home with lots of fish and Canadian beer! Irv was often quiet (but was actually shy). He had an amazing sense of humor and playfulness combined with immense kindness. Irv was very humble, but when you got to know him, you realized he really was the smartest guy in the room-for sure the one you wanted on your trivia team.

He is survived by his sons Michael Hubbard (wife Ferrol) Matthew Hubbard (partner Noelle) and sister Jane Brandt. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other cherished relatives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue, his parents, Irvin and Elizabeth (Young) Hubbard, his brother Joe and other loved ones who welcomed him home.
