Herschel Everett Williams

February 3, 1946 — March 15, 2026

Herschel Everett Williams, age 80, of Jefferson, Iowa, passed away on March 15, 2026, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Herschel was born on February 3, 1946, in Webster City, Iowa, to Emery and Almeda Williams. He attended Kingsway Bible College and spent much of his life in roles that reflected his faith and strong work ethic.

He spent many years at Kingsway Cathedral, where he built lasting friendships. Herschel also pastored his own church in Humboldt for a few years, worked in other ministerial positions, and spent time as a baker and in the grocery industry. He was known for his sense of humor, his orneriness, and his willingness to lend a hand when needed.

Herschel was previously married to Pat, the mother of his children, from 1975 to 1986. He later married Sharron Sue on June 22, 2002. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2020. Together, they built a life in Texas centered on their faith.

He is survived by his children: Tim Williams and Tracy (Frank) Munguia. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew (Melissa) Burgart, Joseph Williams, Tabitha Williams, Dylan Burgart, Devin (Morgan) Burgart, and Mason Burgart; and great-grandchildren: Maddison, Maxwell, Miley, and Kapri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Emery (Junior) Williams, Jimmie Guggisberg, Robert Guggisberg, and Laura Kinison.

Herschel was a man of faith who valued life's simple routines. He enjoyed attending church, sitting outside in the sunshine, and watching his cowboy shows. If you saw him out and about, there was a good chance he had a bottle of Diet Pepsi or a can of Diet Coke in hand.

He loved his family in his own way and will be remembered by those who knew him.
