Helen Suzann Ragan

Helen Suzann Ragan, a strong beautiful beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and the heart of our family, and even her friends, passed away and met her God on August 28, 2026 @ 7:13 pm at the age of 78.

Born on March 11, 1948 at her home on 50th St in Des Moines, Iowa

Lived a life defined by love, strength, kindness and devotion. She had a huge heart, generous spirit, and a special way of making everyone feel welcome, valued and loved.

Above all else Helen cherished her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother whose guidance, patience and unconditional strength and love shaped five generations.

She was especially proud to be a grandmother of 23 and a great-grandmother of 30.

Helen will be remembered for her cooking, sense of humor, playing marbles, cards, pink PJ's gifted from Kelsey. Her strength and faith. And when she was angry she was a sharp shooter with a shoe so watch out for the "Flying Shoe."

The lessons she shared and memories she created will live on in the many lives she touched.

She is survived by Earl Ragan, husband of almost 61 years, her three sons, Earl, Jeffrey and Thomas Ragan, her only daughter, Kristie Pepper along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Cherry Welch, devoted Father, Thomas Welch, Three brothers, Donald, Larry, Gary Welch, and favorite "only" sister Dolly Greene.

Though she will be deeply missed, Helen's love will remain in the hearts of her family and those fortunate enough to know her.
