Heather Leanne Gibson, 46, of Fort Dodge, passed away on April 11th, 2026 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.
Heather was born on August 30th, 1979 to Marilyn and Thomas Gibson. Heather was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. During her life Heather worked for Fort Dodge Asphalt-traveling the state to provide high quality work for Iowa's infrastructure.
Heather brought light, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a deep love for life that showed in the way she embraced each day-with laughter, kindness, and a free spirit that could never be contained. Whether she was surrounded by family or gathered with friends, Heather had a gift for making people feel welcome and comfortable. Her presence filled every room with happiness, and her laughter was something those who loved her will never forget.
She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Heather lived life on her own terms, guided by her independent spirit and fearless heart. She found joy in the simple, meaningful moments.
Heather was also incredibly talented and creative. She expressed her love through her crocheting, carefully crafting handmade pieces for family and friends that will be treasured for years to come. Each stitch was a reflection of her thoughtfulness and the care she poured into everything she did.
A devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and someone who found freedom on the open road, Heather loved riding motorcycles and embracing the sense of adventure that came with it. These passions were just a few of the many ways she lived life boldly and authentically.
Above all, Heather was a true fighter. She faced life's challenges with strength, courage, and resilience, never losing her spirit even in the most difficult times. She fought bravely until the very end, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and unforgettable memories.
Heather will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Heather was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Gibson, father Thomas Gibson, brother Gary Buelt, sister-in-law Carol Buelt, and her beloved dog Lucky.
She is survived by her sister, Tina (Rich) Pederson, nieces Ashley Buelt, Haley (Christopher) Hundley, Hannah Pederson, and two great nieces, three great nephews, and one great-great nephew.
