Gerald (Jerry) Lee Johnson, Sr., age 79, of Gilman City, Missouri, passed away on April 11, 2026.
Jerry was born on February 11, 1947. He was a proud graduate of Columbus Junction High School in Iowa. Jerry honorably served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He served in the Vietnam War before returning home to begin a lifelong career as farmer in Lone Tree, Iowa. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to the land.
On August 20, 1968, Jerry married Patricia Carroll, and together they had two wonderful children. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1997. Together they shared many years and built a family rooted in love and hard work. In 2004, he married Mary Sillman. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2014.
Jerry enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards with family, and spending time at the casino. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his children, Gerald "Tig" (Shelly) Johnson and Julie (Eric) Nelson; his grandchildren, Jordan (Bryan) Raskie and Cole Johnson; and his great-grandchild, Emerson Raskie.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Johnson, his parents, Harold and Willa Johnson, his second wife, Mary Johnson, and by his siblings, Kenneth Johnson and Pauline Bennett.
A Celebration of Life is being planned at the Lone Tree Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, Iowa. Details will be shared at a later date. A private, family burial will take place at Conesville Cemetery.
Gerald will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors, and the special moments he shared with those closest to him. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
