Frances Nielsen

Frances Kay (Rhoades) Nielsen of Ankeny was born December 28, 1964 and passed peacefully on October 2, 2024 surrounded by family at 59 years young after a long and hard fought battle with COPD.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Shelby Norell of Ankeny, sisters, Pamela (Tony) Poe and Lorri Leege of Des Moines, her brother, Charles Rhoades of Des Moines and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly (Rhoades) Woods and stepfather, Arthur Woods, her brothers, Ernest Rhoades, Jr and Thomas Rhoades, and her brother-in-law, James Leege.

Frances was known by many as a kind and quiet woman who despite her health the last few years took pride in her crafts of crochet and knitting. She also enjoyed sneaking away to the casino for a few games of Bingo. Frances had much compassion for her family and enjoyed the regular phone calls and visits.

Frances was cremated and there will be a private family committal service at a later date.
