Elizabeth Otanez

Elizabeth Otanez, 61, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter and friend on Monday September 11, 2023. She is survived by her four beautiful children: Peter Salcido, Joseph Salcido, Steven Salcido, & Aurora Salcido and three loving siblings: Blanca Mathews, Julio Otanez, Hector Otanez. She will be reuniting with her Father: Jose Otanez Mother: Nelly Coral Otanez& little brother Jose Otanez and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Liz was born in Mexico. She was the first of five children of Jose and Nelly. She followed her dreams and moved to the United States with her sister to Colorado as an exchange student. She went back to Mexico and yearned for something more. She then moved to California and started a family and brought them to our safe accommodating state of Iowa so her kids could have a good life. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Tourism. She was a businesswoman through and through. She had multiple streams of income throughout her life. While she gave her children the gift of the Spanish language, they in turn provided her the gift of English language. She learned so fast that she soon became an interpreter for a high scale lawyer in the West Des Moines area. She was a huge staple at Crystal Clear Communications, her brother Julio's company. She was one of the best saleswomen he could've ever asked for. She braved many state fairs and answered many calls and worked her tail off to make sure that business was one of the top preforming businesses in our nation. It was hard having to leave when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2 years ago because her drive was unstoppable. She fought long and she fought hard. Even when we thought it was the end this year in July, she gave us an additional 2 months of joy and laughs at hospice. Heaven gained an angel. We are so blessed to have her presence.
