Elias Romero

Elias Romero, age 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on May 13, 2026.

Elias was born on December 1, 1963, in El Salvador to Ursulo Romero and Julia Guzman. He grew up in El Salvador before later moving to the United States.

Elias spent many years working in construction, a career he took great pride in. He was known as a hardworking man who was dedicated to providing for himself and those he loved. Construction work remained his profession up until the time of his passing.

Outside of work, Elias truly enjoyed life. He loved spending time with friends, listening to music, and dancing whenever he had the chance. He had an incredible sense of humor and a personality that drew people toward him. Elias was often described as the life of the party, always making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him. His warm spirit and fun-loving nature will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Elias is survived by his mother, Julia Guzman; brothers, Israel Romero Guzman (Selia), Cristobal Romero Guzman (Melissa), Moises Romero (Jenny) and Benjamin "Mincho" Romero (Miriam); sisters, Gloria Guzman De Sanchez (Carlos) and Consuelo Guzman; multiple nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and his good friends, Matias Gutierrez (Flor), Jose, Marcial and Amado.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ursulo Romero; brothers, Niebes Guzman and Noe Guzman; and sisters, Maria Guzman and Santana Guzman.

Elias will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his laughter, and the happiness he brought into the lives of others. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
