Elden E Heim

January 8, 1947 — April 19, 2026

Elden Heim, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Kearney, Nebraska, Elden was the son of Margaret and Murry Heim. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and went on to attend Texas Christian University.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Heim; his children Tracy, Shannon, Jennifer, Brian, Angela, Dan and Kyle; and his brother, Joel, and Joel's wife, Nelia Beth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Murry Heim; his daughter Sabrina; and his grandson Jaxon. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy. He held a deep love for his Texas family, who remained an important part of his life.

Elden had a way of staying connected to the people he loved, even when life took everyone in different directions. That connection often took him on the road. He loved to travel, making his way across the country to visit friends and family, never letting distance get in the way of staying close. He was a natural storyteller, able to turn everyday moments into something memorable, often with humor that came out of nowhere and made you laugh when you needed it most. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and a proud Husker supporter, loyal through every season, no matter the score. He also loved golf, where he found both peace and good company.

He will be remembered most for his love of family and the way he stayed present in people's lives in his own way. His stories, his humor and his voice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 9-11 a.m. June 13, 2026, at First Christian Church, 2400 W 14th St. in Grand Island, Nebraska.
