Edward Allen Lamb

August 2, 1964 — November 18, 2023

EDWARD ALLEN LAMB, of Des Moines, passed away at his home on November 18 surrounded by his family.  A true warrior, Ed battled cancer for seven years with unparalleled courage, strength and positivity.

Ed was born in Lawrence, Kansas on August 2, 1964 to June and Jerry.  He moved to Dodge City in 1972 where he remained until moving to Des Moines in 1995.  Ed and his wife, Jamie, were married on December 8, 1984 and are the parents of three children - Codie, Jessie and Laura.

Eddie worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Hormel/Osceola Foods for the past 25 years and thought of his coworkers and employees as family.  Working for Hormel was Ed's dream job as he was able to do what he loved to do while being part of a management team that believes in producing a quality product while caring deeply about employees.

From the day he arrived on the planet until the day he left us, Eddie Lamb was a gearhead through and through.  Ed loved NASCAR and muscle cars and was somewhat of a savant when it came to Chevrolets (Camaros in particular.)  He owned, restored and loved his 1968 Camaro Z28 since 1985.  He was a mechanical genius. Eddie also enjoyed sports of every kind and was a loyal lifetime fan of both the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks. He loved games and game shows. He loved traveling with his family, most especially adventures with his favorite person, his brother Paul.

Most of all Eddie loved his family and friends which included his little white dog and inseparable companion, Jimmie Johnson.  To say that he was proud of his Grandchildren would be an understatement. He considered his friends to be family and loved each and every one of them.

Ed is survived by his wife, Jamie; children Jessie and Laura (Drew); grandchildren Cheyenne, Gabriel, Sebastian and Sierra (great grandson Drayden expected April 2024); mother June; beloved brother Paul; sisters-in-law Missy and Julie; step-siblings Heather, Nikki, Shelley and Toby; mother-in-law Marla; Uncle Dan (Cynthia) Many nieces, nephews and cousins (several of whom he considered brothers and sisters.)  Ed was preceded in death by his son, Codie and parents Gayle, Gerald and Jerry.

We Celebrate Doctors Matthew and Brooke Wehbe without whom these past seven years would not have been. As a family, we celebrate Eddie's life and the end of his suffering, but we do not celebrate his passing.  It was much too soon and leaves holes in our hearts that can never be filled.  This is the price we pay for loving and having been so deeply loved by a great man.

Memorials are suggested to Fraternal Order of the Eagles #109 (where Ed was a member) or to A Heinz 57 (where his grandchildren volunteer.)

The family prefers seeds rather than cut flowers.

A service will be held with the date yet to be determined.
