Dwight William Patrick Schwering

Dwight William Patrick Schwering of Pleasant Hill, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 18 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, he was 46 years old.

A visitation and service will be held at Simplify Cremations and Funerals (4821 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50315) on Friday, September 25th, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. The family would like to invite everyone to Dwight's favorite buffet, The New China Buffet and Grill in Des Moines immediately following the service.

He was born January 17, 1980 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1999. He played on the football team for some time.

He started his family with Marie Irlmeier in 2004 with the birth of his first child Macy Schwering, in 2006 and 2007 he had his two sons, Dalton and Jacob Schwering.

He met his fiance, Nicole Cunningham in 2014 along with her son Tyler Cunningham. He primarily worked in cooking services with his most recent job being Buffalo Wild Wings Go in Indianola as a shift manager.

Dwight was an avid Iowa State and 49'ers football fan. Dwight loved to cook for his friends and family and often tried new recipes. He was a great cook! He tuned in every Friday and Monday night to watch WWE and Monday Night Raw. He very much enjoyed WWE growing up as a child and well into his adulthood. He also loved to go fishing with his kids, primarily his sons. He loved to play video games with his family, especially Fortnite. He loved to spend time with his family at home. He loved to travel with his family and their most recent trip was to Branson, Missouri in August of 2026.

Dwight is survived by his fiance of 12 years, Nicole Cunningham. His four children, Macy Schwering (Jonah), Tyler Cunningham (Baylie), Dalton Schwering, and Jacob Schwering. His father, William (Bill) Schwering. His parents in-law, Audy and Tammy Butters. His sister Deb Rush (Mark Rush) and his brother Duane Schwering (Alyssa Schwering). His brothers in law, Bill Butters (Kelly Butters) and James Butters (Diana-Lei Butters). His grandmother in law, Joanne Carpenter. His nieces and nephews Stephanie Helton, Dakota Helton, Walker Helton, Madison Hartnett, and Drew Schwering and great nieces and nephews.

Dwight is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Schwering, and his grandparents Carol and Harold Hanen.
