Doris Mae Carpenter, passed away on September 14, 2023, inDes Moines, where she was born and raised. She was born on October 13, 1950, to Raymond and Reva Cox. Doris's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Doris found joy in spending time with everyone she met, always sharing her warmth and compassion. Her greatest delight was in the company of her beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate their birthdays, making each moment a special memory.
One of Doris's favorite pastimes was playing card games with the youngsters. Whether it was cribbage and war she loved the laughter and bonding that these games brought to their lives. Her kind-hearted nature and willingness to help anyone in need were the cornerstones of her character.
Doris is survived by her loving children, Harold (Carla) Carpenter, Rebecca (Damon) McDonald, and Teresa (Kevin) Martin; sisters, Kelli Vorrath and Diane Mason; daughter-in-law, Jen Carpenter; son-in-law, Rick Phippen; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. Additionally, she is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Alden Carpenter, who passed away in 2002; daughter, Jennifer Colleen Phippen, in 1994; son, John Eric Carpenter, in 2022; her parents, Raymond and Reva Cox; two sisters, Roxanne Thompson and Toni Thompson.
Funeral service for Doris will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Simplify Cremations & Funerals with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
