Donald Collins

Donald Collins (57) passed away on April 6, 2024, at Harmony West Des Moines. A memorial service is planned for 10:00 am, May 2, 2024, at Simplify Cremations & Funerals (4821 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315).

Donald Samuel Collins was born to Glenn and Dianne (Henderson) Collins on June 16, 1966, in Biddeford, Maine. He grew up in Saco with his three brothers. He went to Saco Schools and Graduated from Thornton Academy in 1986.

Don was close with his grandfather, Samuel Henderson and enlisted in the US Army following in his grandfather's footsteps. Donald served in the army from June 1986 until October 31st 1996 when he was honorably discharged. It was during his time serving that Donald would meet Crystal in Ft. Meade Maryland. On May 8th 1991, Donald and Crystal were married in Washington, D.C. To this union three children were born, Jaclynne, Rebekah and Jared. Though they would later separate, they remained close and made their children the top priority. Donald's life began and ended with his children and grandchildren. Don worked for the United States Postal Service as a truck driver until eventually working his way up to the position of supervisor.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Troy, Jeffery, and Tim Collins. Children, Jaclynne (Jesse) Baldwin, Rebekah (Logan) Snyder, Jared (Brittany) Collins; Grandchildren; Penelope (Baldwin), Liam, Elliott, Daphne (Snyder), Delilah (McMahon); as well as extended family and close personal friends.
