Diana Holmes

Diana Holmes, 76, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at her daughters home surrounded by loved ones. She was born to Bernice (Yaw) Haus & Lee M. McClish on October 28,1947.

Diana grew up in the Des Moines & Saydel area until she went to St. Joseph Academy in Omaha, NE, where she went on to graduate in 1966. Diana treasured her time with family friends and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Diana enjoyed reading, puzzle books, and some traveling. Diana was a CNA for well over 30 plus years.

Diana is survived by her 4 children; her sons William and James Holmes and her 2 daughters; Samantha Ekstein, Kassandra (Gary) Weaklend.

Diana is survived by 29 grandchildren: Zacary, Scott Holmes, Ryan and Patrick Gilbert, James B.Holmes, Matthew Holmes, Elizabeth (Jesus) Reyes, Krystina (Thomas) Harrington, David Rooker, Step son Bobby Joe (Casey) Brown, Jolene McClish (Jesse) Gomez,Tyler (Gennie) Holmes, Jerry (Cassi) Holmes, Jay Holmes, Sabra (Wilson) Sanchez, Joseph (Amber Bryant) Spaans, Dustin Spaans, Stacey, Dakota, Ryian Weaklend and 36 great grandchildren; along with other loving family and special friends.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents, Her late husband Gary Holmes, 3 brothers; Wesley & John McClish and Mike Halverson. Along with 2 grandchildren (Keiths Hafen Jr & Angel Gilbert) and 3 great grandchildren (Betty R Spaans & Baby Gomez & Baby Holmes).

Family and friends will at a later date spread her ashes at Glendale Cemetery on the wildflowers.Then in late May early June they will hold a celebration of life; details will be posted on facebook.
