Dennis Decklever

June 3, 1959 — March 2, 2025

Dennis Dean Decklever, 65, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. He was born on June 3, 1959, in Great Lakes, Illinois, to proud parents Richard Lawrence Decklever and Jutta Mehlau. Dennis grew up with a deep sense of love and respect for his family, and his parents, as well as his grandfather, Lawrence Decklever, were instrumental in shaping the kind and compassionate and hard working person he became.

Dennis graduated from Osage High School in Osage, Iowa, in 1977. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served for four years. His military service paved the way for a career filled with dedication and expertise. For 17 years, Dennis worked as an on-base contractor with the Navy, specializing as an aviation mechanic. He enjoyed building and operating offroad jeeps and trucks. He would travel to events with family and friends. These times he would share with anyone willing to go or listen. He was very mechanically oriented and truly loved all things automotive. He would spend weekends riding one of his many Harley Davidsons he owned throughout his life.

After relocating to Missouri, Dennis found a new chapter in life working at Saberliner, where he continued to lend his skills and talents. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident in 2009 led to his early retirement. Despite this setback, Dennis never lost his zest for life and remained a source of joy to those around him.

With a sense of humor that could light up any room, Dennis had an uncanny ability to make people laugh with his endless supply of sound effects and playful antics. He was also a highly skilled artist with an eye for detail and a creative flair that could turn any project into a work of art. His talents didn't stop there—Dennis had an incredible knack for fixing anything that needed repair, and he was always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

He found great joy in his family, including all of his children, and was particularly fond of his beloved cats. His compassion and kindness were felt by all who were lucky enough to know him, and he will be remembered for the selflessness he demonstrated throughout his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Alissa Richardson(Josh), Lawrence Decklever(Melissa), Travis Barnes, Sharon Eldridge, Lori Eldridge; Grandchildren, Elsie Richardson, Oliver Richardson, Orren Gibson, Lylah Gibson father, Richard Decklever; Sisters, Debrah Coury, Aleen Bailey(Mike).

Dennis is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Eldridge.
