David Lee Breuklander

David Lee Breuklander, age 73, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on April 11, 2026.

David was born on July 9, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Warren G. and Betty (Stump) Breuklander. He grew up in Des Moines and spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys he cherished most. David attended Des Moines Tech High School, and then honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

David had a deep love for the outdoors and found great happiness in fishing, boating, and spending time in nature. He especially enjoyed his daily visits to Prairie Meadows, where he could relax and unwind. Above all, David treasured time with his family. One of his greatest joys was gathering with loved ones at Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma, Iowa, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Breuklander and Charles Breuklander; his grandchildren, Damon and Haley; and his siblings, Barbra Guthrie, Jannett Atkinson, Brian Breuklander, and Karen Hudson.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Betty Breuklander.

A private family interment will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, at a later date.

David will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the many quiet moments he shared with those closest to him.
