Daryl Leon Veld, 68, passed away peacefully in his home, Mingo, IA with family present on January 6,
2024 from stoke and cancer complications.
Daryl was born to Clarence and Virginia (Martin) Veld in Marshalltown, Iowa on February 19, 1955.
Daryl loved being outside and working with animals especially with his grandfather, Howard Martin,
Mingo, IA on his dairy farm. Daryl worked the farm as a young boy and into his teens. He decided to go
to Malone College in 1978 in Canton, Ohio. He met his future wife, Robin Yoder, and married in
Marshalltown Friends Church on June 7th , 1980. He received his BA in Christian Ministries and
Psychology in 1982.
1982, Daryl and his wife went back to help his grandfather run the dairy farm and was able to raise two
boys, Seth and Sean Veld. Daryl enjoyed all the school activities watching Seth play football or listening
to his son, Sean play in the band. He was able to purchase the homestead in 1994 and lived there for
43 years with his wife until he passed. Daryl worked with persons with intellectual disabilities to help
with their daily living activities until he became sick on December 5, 2023. He always had a smile and
good-natured sense of humor whenever he was working with others.
Daryl enjoyed listening to WHO radio and looking at tractors and eating at any buffet but mostly Pizza
Ranch and Chinese food.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Robin (Yoder) Veld, his son, Seth Veld, Raymore, Mo and Sean Veld, Mingo,
IA, his mother, Virginia (Martin) Veld, Conrad, IA. His brother, David Veld, Conrad, IA and his sister,
Becky (Veld) Steffan. No grandchildren but plenty of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by
his father, Clarence Veld, Marshalltown, IA and his grandfather, Howard Martin, Mingo, IA and his uncle,
Roland (Bud) Martin, Marshalltown, IA
Daryl remained steadfast and courageous during his illness and was looking forward to Heaven.
