Daniel Smith

Daniel Lynn Smith, 50, passed away Saturday, March 1. 2025 at the Pine Acres Nursing Home in West Des Moines, IA under Hospice Care.

Dan will be cremated with burial at the Pleasantville Cemetery.  A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Dan was born on January 12, 1975, at Des Moines General Hospital In Des Moines, Ia to Marion and Millie (Jensen) Smith. Dan was blessed with a son David Stephenson of Council Bluffs, Ia.   His Mother married Jack Bensink, of Pleasantville, Ia who completed help raising the family.

Dan graduated from the Pleasantville High School and has kept in contact with some of his friends.Dan enjoyed working on the Bensink Farm growing up outside of Pleasantville. He did deer hunting with the family & looking for fresh mushrooms in the spring. His mother Millie was a great cook who made beef jerky & froze precooked mushroom.  Dan loved to work with his hands refinishing old furniture.

Dan is survived by his Step-Father, Jack Bensink and Father, Marion Smith and his wife, Deb; his Son, Daughter in law & great Grandson, David & Brandi Jo Stevenson & Mikey (Michael) whom he was so proud of. Brother Eugene Smith, Niece April & Family, Niece Jode & Family, Nephew Eugene, all of Des Moines, Ia, Uncle John (Joyce)of Hartford, Ia, Aunt Rebecca (Tom)Paton of Des Moines, Ia, Aunt Debra (Ron) Elliott of Lakeland, Florida, Jim (Jodie) Jensen of Des Moines, Ia.  Multiple cousins & friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his Mother, Mildred Bensink (06/23/04), Sister Tina Marie Smith-Kimmel (10/23/16) Brother Pete Richard Smith, Grandfather Henry Bensink (11/16/24), Buster Jensen, Grandmother Betty Bensink (2008), Grandmother Rita Jensen-Doll (06/26/04), Cousin Shane Gruhn (11/17/24).
