Daniel Alan Sinclair

July 21, 1963 — May 1, 2026

Daniel Alan Sinclair, age 62, of Des Moines, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A hardworking man with a generous heart, Dan lived a life dedicated to helping others, protecting those around him, and building lasting friendships everywhere he went.

Dan was born on July 21, 1963, in Des Moines to Henry and Sandra (Benson) Sinclair. He grew up with a strong work ethic and carried that dedication throughout his entire life. Over the years, Dan worked many jobs and approached each one with pride and dignity. For many years he worked in auto body repair and spent winters plowing snow, always willing to put in the hard work to provide for his family and help his community. His final employer before retirement was with Seamus Excavating, where there wasn't a piece of equipment he couldn't operate if needed.

One of Dan's greatest passions was serving others. He proudly served as a firefighter with the Windsor Heights Fire Department, where he earned the respected rank of lieutenant. He also worked for the Public Works Department, continuing his lifelong commitment to helping keep his community safe and running smoothly. Dan also enjoyed doing security work at multiple locations, where his calm presence and caring nature helped protect and reassure those around him.

Outside of work, Dan loved the outdoors and the people he shared life with. He had a passion for side-by-side and ATV racing and took pride in helping keep the track safe for drivers and spectators alike. He enjoyed camping, outdoor concerts, and spending time with friends and family whenever he could. Dan was truly a people person. Anyone who met him could quickly see his kindness, loyalty, and willingness to help others without hesitation. He earned the respect of many and built friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Dan is survived by his father, Henry Sinclair; his siblings, Deanna (Casey Kilbride) Sinclair and Janell (Shawn) Nelson; his children, Justin (Devin) Sinclair, Anthony Sinclair, and Stephen (CeCe) Sinclair; his grandchildren, Jayde Sinclair, Charlie Sinclair, Reid Sinclair, Reagan Sinclair, Aidyn Sinclair, Robin Sinclair, Odyn Sinclair, and Saphyra Sinclair; his significant other, Virginia Vasquez; her children, Maria Vasquez, Gabriela Delgado-Vasquez, and Gael Delgado-Vasquez; and granddaughter, Melody Rain.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Sinclair; and his sister, Melissa Sinclair.

Dan will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the countless lives he touched through friendship, service, and kindness. He was deeply respected, greatly loved, and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
