Daniel David Dominguez

Daniel David Dominguez, age 69, passed away on Friday, April 25th, 2025 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Des Moines, IA. He was a loving husband, devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a dear friend to many people. Daniel was known for being a Veteran, a huge Elvis Presley fan, his laugh and jokes, and the impact that he made on people's lives.

Daniel was born on May 31st, 1955 in Crookston, Minnesota to Julio Dominguez and Tomasa Jimenez. Daniel grew up with a large family with 7 brothers and sisters and was raised by Joleen Dominguez. Daniel joined the United States Army at 18 years old and served as a Combat Medic during Vietnam from January 15, 1973 to September 12th, 1977. The last place he was stationed at was the Yakima Firing Center in Washington. After Daniel came home from the service, he decided to further his education by attending DMACC and then eventually moving out to Anaheim, California where he attended the Southern California College of Medical and Dental Careers for two years and then received his degree in medical assisting. Daniel eventually worked in many hospitals then after 30 years, he left the medical field for the cooking field and worked as a head chef in the Veterans Affairs Hospital where he retired after 10 years in February 2016. After he retired, he spent most of his time with his family and was involved in a lot of organizations with the VVA, The American Legion, and many more.

Daniel married Leticia Bojorquez in Mexico in 1992 and they were married for 26 years. Daniel was survived by his three beautiful daughters, Daniella Arnold (Todd Arnold), Caroline Marin (Kevin Houghman), and Leeza Dominguez. He was also survived by his four grandchildren, Carson, TJ, Salem, and Emilio. Then he was preceded in death with his parents, Julio, Tomasa, and Joleen and his brother Nick.

Family and friends are invited to come join us for the service at the Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA on Thursday, May 1, at 11 am to reminisce, grieve, support, and share great memories about Daniel.
