Dale Lynn Watkins

Dale Lynn Watkins, 58, of Lorimor passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2024 at his mother's home in Osceola, Iowa. Per Dale's wishes he has been cremated and his family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

Born on June 29, 1966 in Osceola, Iowa, the son of William and Irma (Sharpe) Watkins. For many years, Dale dedicated his time and hard work to Capital City Fruit, where he became well-known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and friendly nature. Outside of work, Dale was an avid fisherman with a deep love for the great outdoors. Fishing wasn't just a hobby for Dale, it was a passion, one that he shared with family and friends, always eager to teach anyone who wanted to learn.

Dale had a knack for collecting all sorts of things. Around town, Dale was known for his larger-than-life personality. More often than not, you could find him causing a little harmless ruckus, always the center of laughter and light-hearted mischief. His sense of humor was as quick as his smile, and he never missed an opportunity to share a joke or pull a prank. His presence was magnetic, drawing people in with his warmth and wit.

But of all the roles Dale played in life, the one he cherished most was that of a family man. He adored his family, always putting them first and making sure they knew how much they meant to him. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life.

Dale's life was a testament to hard work, love, and living in the moment. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about. He will be remembered not just for the laughter he brought and the ruckus he caused, but for the deep love he had for his family and the way he made everyone around him feel special.

He is survived by his two daughters, Juliette (Dan) Lunscford of Des Moines and Jessica (Mike) Bensley of Indianola; son, Michael Watkins of Osceola; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Watkins of Norwalk; and sister, Beverly Vance of Winterset; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Donnie Luncsford; siblings: Roxanne Stephenson and Brian Watkins.
