Cynthia Louise Overton

Cynthia Louise Overton (Cindy) was the daughter of George and Doris Miller. She was born June 17, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa. As a child, Cindy enjoyed spending time with family, cousins, and the "James Gang". Spending time with family was always a priority for Cindy throughout her childhood and adult life.

Cindy and Kenneth Overton (Karl) were married on July 12, 1990, and had two children; Derek James Miller-Overton and Megan Louise (Overton) Bouska. Cindy lived her life for her kids and family. She stayed home and opened an in-home daycare to be with her kids full time, and once they were both school aged she got a job within the school district. Cindy loved to work with children and enjoyed helping others and held several jobs where she was able to fulfill that joy.

Aside from her love for her family, Cindy enjoyed planting flowers, attending the yearly James Family Reunion, attending church, watching her kids in their school activities, had a huge heart for all animals, talking with others in sign-language, and enjoyed playing card games with friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time talking with her friends and family, and she could be on the phone for hours with various people just talking about their days. Cindy will be forever loved and missed by all.

Cindy was officially diagnosed with Dementia in June of 2020. She spent her last years by her husband's side, attending all of his Ironman races and cheering him on through all of his training sessions. Seeing Karl in the middle of a race brought the biggest smile to her face, always giving him a hug and a kiss before he went on his way, and she was always ready to see him at the finish line.

On November 7, 2023, Cindy met her Lord and Savior and is undoubtedly dancing and singing to her favorite songs.

Those who will cherish her memory include her husband, Karl of Des Moines, Iowa; their son, Derek, his wife, Kelsey, and their two children, Ava (14) and Mia (12) of Earlham, Iowa; their daughter, Megan, her husband, David, and their daughter, Olivia (1) of Pella, Iowa; her brother, Dennis, and his family; her sister, Kim, and her family. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris; her sister, Karla; and her father-in-law, Les.
