Codie James Lamb

Codie James Lamb, of Des Moines, passed away on March 17, 2023 at the age of 36. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 4700 SW 14th Street, Des Moines, Iowa, 50315.

Codie was born on May 9, 1986 in Dodge City, Kansas. He was a kind-hearted, adventurous, energetic, animal-loving little boy. The family moved to Des Moines in 1995, where Codie enjoyed playing Pop Warner football. Codie was an extremely talented artist, an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and music lover. He had a brilliant mind, and he loved his family, friends, and God. He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to The Bible and the local bus system.

While we acknowledge the toll schizophrenia took on Codie's life, we also recognize and appreciate the support and kindness he received from his dedicated Case Workers, Lee, Stacey, and Amanda as well as his best friend, Kenny, and his loving church family at St. John's United Methodist Church, who welcomed him with open arms.

Mental illness robbed Codie of a full life and a healthy brain, but it never took from him his generous and compassionate heart. Codie had little, but gave much and taught much.

After a long battle with mental illness, Codie found peace on March 17, 2023.

Codie is survived by his Dad and Mama, Edward and Jamie; his sisters Jessica and Laura (Drew); his nephews and nieces, Cheyenne, Gabriel, Sebastian, and Sierra; Grandmothers, Marla and June; Aunts, Uncle, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his Grandma Gayle and his Grandfathers James, Gerald, and Jerry as well as his Uncle James.

Memorials suggested to St. John's United Methodist Church. In lieu of cut arrangements, the family would prefer seeds or bulbs as a memorial garden will be planted for Codie.
