Christina Zink

Christina Lee Zink was born February 16, 1972 to Rick and Mary Deever. She was the oldest of their two daughters. Christina lost her fight with alcoholism on Wednesday July 2, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Christina was a life-long resident of the Des Moines area, aside from a few years in her early childhood living in Clovis, New Mexico, and Honolulu, Hawaii, where she started her schooling at Nimitz Elementary thanks to her father's service in the U.S. Air Force.

Chris was a proud Polar Bear graduating in 1990 from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa.

In 1994 Chris was married to Dennis Zink. Through this 18 year marriage she gained a step son Ryan Kendall. She and Dennis were the proud parents of Brittany and Nicholas.

Christina's love of children was shown through her career in childcare. She was employed through several daycares in the area over the years including Apple Tree Children's Center, The Learning Loft, Children's Garden, Loving Arms, and most recently Yellow Brick Road in Grimes.

Chris also worked at Roosevelt and Lincoln High Schools in Des Moines as a teacher's associate.

Chris had many loves in her life nothing could top the love she had for her two children Brittany and Nick. She was a proud supporter of the "Fight Like a Girl" breast cancer slogan. She enjoyed crafting such as plastic canvas which she learned from her grandma Stuber. Coloring was another favorite of hers. We can't forget to mention her adoration of the Green Bay Packers.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents Rick and Mary Deever of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter Brittany Zink, sons Nicholas Zink, and Ryan Kendall; granddaughter Sophia Kendall; sister Michelle (Brian) Bailey; nephews Sebastian, Isaac, and Caleb Bailey; nieces Lauren and Hannah Bailey; and special friend, Brandon Haus. Also included in that circle are many other aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.

Preceded in death by Grandparents John and Ruth Waddell, August Deever, Marie and Lloyd Stuber.
