Chance Christian Hulten

Chance Christian Hulten, 44, passed away at Broadlawns Medical Center on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends. A lifetime Des Moines resident, Chance was born on April 20, 1978 to Fred & Jeanne (Walther) Hulten. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1997, where he excelled in football and held the career passing yards record for several years. After graduation, Chance went on to work in the food & beverage service industry, ultimately winning the coveted Iowa Restaurant Association's Employee of the Year Award in 2015 while working at Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company. He was recognized not only for his outstanding service, but also for the warm and friendly manner in which he always treated his customers. His kind demeanor wasn't a professional strategy, it was just the way he was. Constantly open-hearted and upbeat, Chance will be remembered for how he treated others — friends and strangers alike. Chance is survived by his father Fred Hulten (partner Shannon), brothers Shawn Moore, Brian Hulten (wife Gretchen), Adam Hulten (wife Tina), sister Molly Petersen (husband Rick), four nieces, two nephews, his partner Lindsey Turner and their dog Elvie. In lieu of a funeral service, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Hulten family is appreciative of all the tremendous support received during this difficult time and asks that everyone follow Chance's amazing example of treating others with the upmost kindness and respect we all deserve.
