Carol Ross

Carol Ross passed away January 17, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 63. She was born on May 3, 1962, to her parents Jerry and Mae Rumage. She has 2 siblings Deborah (Randy) Coulter, and Michael (Darla) Rumage. She lived most of her life in Des Moines, Iowa. She received her GED from Des Moines Public Schools and continued her education at Des Moines Area Community collage. Most of her life she worked in jobs that were with children. Her greatest employment was working at Youth Homes of Mid America. She loved the kids and coworkers there so much.

Carol married in 1979 and had 2 beautiful children, Irwin (Rocky) Collier II and Heather Collier. She divorced in 1985. Carol went on to raise her 2 children as a single mom who worked very hard to provide for them and give them the best life, she was able.

Carol was loving and kind and would help anyone that she could. She brought comfort to many and she loved all animals. In her free time, she loved caring for all her animals, playing on her computer, being in the ocean watching the dolphins, but most of all spending time with her kids, grand kids, and friends and extended family. Carol strongly believed everyone she had relationships with were family to her.

Carol is survived by her 2 children, a son Irwin (Rocky) Collier II and daughter Heather Collier. Two grandkids Makai Collier, Zaria Collier, and a best friend Dorothy Gregory of 58 yrs. She is also survived by two siblings, a sister Debbie Coulter and brother Michael Rumage. She also had a host of several other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Mae Rumage. Carol will be cremated and a celebration of life barbeque will be held later this year with ashes to then be spread in the Gulf of America as she wished.

Any contributions may be made directly to her children. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Methodist hospital for taking such great care of Carol in her final days.
