Bruce Henry Hicks

Bruce Hicks, 68, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Des Moines, IA. He was born on December 28, 1956 in Perry, IA, to Howard Hicks and Gladys Jorgensen. Bruce graduated from Perry High School.

Bruce loved going fishing, and spent as much time as he could doing so, especially after he retired. He enjoyed watching college and pro football, wrestling, and watching fighting shows. He loved classic car shows, and working on cars in his own time. He loved his family and would drop everything to assist in anyway he could. He loved working with his hands, especially building projects that were his own design. Grillouts with family was one of his favorite past times. He made friends with every dog he came across, but enjoyed spoiling his grandpup the most. Bruce married Gale Smith on July 20, 1979 and later divorced in 2023.

Bruce is survived in death by his children, Tracy Hicks and Jason Hicks, brother Barry (Patty) Hicks, sisters Shirley Anderson, Iola Bainter, and Carolyn Watcher, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lester Hicks and Jim Hicks, and sisters Brenda Brown and Winona (Nonie) Roberts.
