Betty Jean Aller, 88, of Des Moines, IA, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2024,
in the comfort of her home.
Betty's wonderful life began on July 2, 1935, in the loving care of her parents, Frank and
Louiza Cross. She shared her youth with two older siblings, Frank and Josephine, both
of whom predeceased Betty. Upon turning nineteen, Betty married her husband of 45
years, Larry Aller. She remained by Larry's side until his passing in 2000. Betty and
Larry enjoyed playing card games and traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks. Betty was
best known as a fierce and loving wife who always made sure the dishes were washed
but was never afraid to chase Larry on top of a garage roof or two when his tinkering
went awry.
Betty and Larry had three beautiful children, Larry Douglas (predeceased), Mary Ann,
and Susie. Betty was an expert in motherhood. She took immense pride in raising
children who shared her passion for hard work and a steadfast determination to do right
by others.
Following the passing of her husband, Betty was blessed to share her home of seventy
years with her granddaughter Dana, and great-grandchildren Billy and Justin. These
four shared a special bond founded in love, baking, and more card games. One could
often drive by her house and find Betty enjoying her yard work or making lunch for one
of her boys. No matter what she was doing, Dana, Billy, and Justin were right by her
Side.
Betty was the matriarch of a large and closely bonded family. Her door was always
open, and her phone constantly rang with calls from her beloved kin. Betty is survived
by her daughters Mary Ann and Susie; her grandchildren Dana, Andy, Cory, Jordan, and
Ennis; and her great-grandchildren Billy, Justin, Colby, Cooper, Lorelei, Graham, and
Ella.
