Barton Alan Hammond

Barton "Bart" Alan Hammond, 62 of Des Moines, passed away May 31, 2025 at IMMC of Congestive Heart Failure.

"Bart" was born in Des Moines, Ia on October 12, 1962 to Billy Dean Hammond and Karen Hammond and grew up in the rural Hartford area. He attended school in Carlisle, Ia. He then went to trade school for 4 years to be a Union Sheet Metal Journeyman. He was most proud of being able to help put the copper roof on the 801 Grand high rise bldg. He worked on many other projects in the Metro area including The State Capital, Prairie Meadows and the Iowa Cubs Stadium. Bart married Teri Slawson in 1987. Bart and Teri have 2 sons Mickey "Mick" Shane and Dustin Levi. Although divorced in 1995, they remained lifelong friends. Bart enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, bow hunting and kayaking. Bart was also talented in knife making.

Bart was preceded in death by his Mother and Father.

He is survived by 2 sons, Mick and Dustin both of Des Moines, 2 brothers Bracy (Becky) Hammond and Jason (Tammy) Hammond, 1 sister Marlisa Hammond, longtime girlfriend Kimberly Schossow, good friend Sandy Hairline and many other friends and family.
