Barbara Jean Pettit, 84, of Jefferson, Iowa, passed away on March 4, 2026.

Barbara was born on November 27, 1941, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to C.E. and Leona Cubbage. She grew up in Iowa and carried with her the strong values of faith and family that would guide her throughout her life.

On May 28, 1960, she was united in marriage to Gerald Pettit. Together they built a life centered on love, devotion, and family. Gerald preceded her in death on February 14, 2020.

Barbara was a homemaker her entire life - a role she embraced wholeheartedly and with great pride. She lovingly cared for her husband, children, grandchildren, and home. She found joy in cooking, sewing, and tending to her pets. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome to all who entered.

A devoted Christian woman, Barbara loved the Lord Jesus deeply and lived her faith daily. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family were evident in everything she did.

She is survived by her 2 children: Karen Sue Ripley (Ivan), and Darrell Gene Pettit (Karen). She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Mark Manuel Galvan III , Seraphina Anett Childress (Colton), Evan Royce Pettit (Caitlin), and Reuben Tate Pettit and great grandchildren, and 2 great- grandchildren Royce Alan Walker Pettit and Isaac A J Pettit, along with many extended family members and loved ones.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Pettit, and her parents and siblings, Charles Wayne Cubbage (Alberta), William James Cubbage (Ruth), and Judy Lea Amissah.

Interment will take place at Ottumwa Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Barbara will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her servant's heart, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy of devotion and compassion will live on in the lives of those she cherished.
