Arthur Robert Zepnak

Arthur (Art) Robert Zepnak, 60, of Des Moines, IA passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.

Arthur was born on December 17, 1963 to Arthur Francis Zepnak and Mary Ellen (Lamberth) Zepnak on an Airforce Base in Guam. Since the day he came home from the hospital his family has affectionally called him "Tiger". Shortly after, the family moved to La Vista, NE where they lived 8007 Easy St. Seriously, it was called Easy St.

He attended Papillion La Vista Public Schools where he was active in judo, football, soccer, wrestling, baseball and skipping class. After high school he continued to fill his time with many hobbies that became passions from bowling to golfing and most notably fishing. He loved to fish and spent many, many hours on the water.

Art married Stacy Collins in 1992. Together they had two daughters – Jordan in '94 and Sidney in '95. His daughters were his pride and joy. He loved coaching and cheering them on in their many activities – softball, soccer, gymnastics, basketball and even dance. He once wore a tutu and performed at their final dance recital. He and Stacy divorced in 2007.

Art spent the last years of his life with Shari Smith. Together they loved to vacation to warmer weather, play pool and hang out at Stormy's – where we recently celebrated his 60th birthday.

He held many titles throughout his life – banker, sales representative, painter, mason, bartender, son, brother, friend, teammate, fisherman, husband, uncle, dad, etc. But his favorite title was Grandpa. In 2019 his grandson Macklin was born and in 2021 his granddaughter Brooklyn. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than time with his grandkids.

Art was preceded in death by his father; Arthur Francis Zepnak and his brother, Greg Zepnak.

Those left to cherish Arthur's memory are his mother; Mary Zepnak, his two daughters; Jordan Zepnak and Sidney (Kyle) Trilk, his 3 sisters; Pamela (Jeffrey) Smaha, Sandy (Rich) Wittmuss, and Kathy Russell, and his two grandchildren; Macklin and Brooklyn Trilk.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at Simplify Cremations and Funerals, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm.
