Amber Star Leonardi

Amber Leonardi, 42 years, died peacefully on 11/15/2024 from multiple rare autoimmune diseases at her home surrounded by her mother - Tracy Facey, her son Domenico (Nico) Leonardi, and her best friends Stacey Metzger and Peanut Brown.

Amber graduated from East High school - Des Moines in 2000. She attended Iowa State University until 2002 and graduated from Mercy College of Health Sciences with a nursing degree in 2004. She worked at MercyOne - Des Moines in the Cardiac Surgical ICU and then in the Cardiac Cath Lab until 2014 when she became disabled from her multiple health problems. Her caring and compassion for those around her will forever signify her character.

She is preceded in death by her Grandfathers: James Leonardi and John Van Weelden; Grandmother: Frances Marshall; Uncles: Jimmy and Jeff Leonardi; Aunt: Teresa Leonardi; and Cousin: Tammy Leonardi.

Amber is survived by her Mother-Tracy Facey; Father-Brent Van Weelden (Jodi); Son-Nico Leonardi; Brothers- Matthew Logsdon, Richard Cody Walker (Catherine), Tyler Van Weelden; Sister: Halla Lester (Cass), and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on November 26, 2024 at Simplify Cremations and Funerals, 4821 SW 9th St Des Moines, IA 50315. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; Funeral services 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at McLaren's Resthaven cemetery in West Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will follow at Elk's Lodge #98, 5420 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327 from 2:30-5:30 p.m.
