Alicia Danielle Kirk (Beck)

Date of Birth: August 23, 1986

Born at Methodist Hospital - Madison, Wisconsin

Parents: Daniel Beck and Jennifer O'Neill (Nelson)

Date of Death: March 18, 2026 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa

Alicia attended the DeForest Elementary, Middle and High School, graduating in 2004. She later obtained a Registered Nursing degree from Des Moines Area Community College.

Alicia had various other jobs after leaving nursing but always longed to return to it as she loved being able to help and enjoyed being of service to others in any way possible.

Alicia was generous, kind, and loving to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She would do anything for anyone without being asked and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Alicia loved cooking and baking and was known amongst her friends and family for cooking an over-abundance of food and often gave away to those she felt needed it more than her.

Alicia loved music, mostly old school rock but she also loved newer music and as a teenager, was known to listen to some "off the wall" music (read that from her Dad as "screaming" into a microphone"). She had a wonderful sense of humor and often had us laughing from her stories. She also loved art, especially Monet and Van Gogh and other impressionist artists. She would buy art off of Facebook and fill her rooms with it.

Mostly, Alicia loved her children with immense passion. She would shower them with birthday and Christmas gifts. There were never enough gifts to give her children, so much so, that Amazon had her on their favorites list. One of her last posts on Facebook was how much she loved her children. No one could ever doubt how much she loved each of them. The love of her children was the driving force that motivated her in life.

Alicia fought many times through adversity. Every time, her love of her children, her internal strength, optimism and good humor would always shine through. She was a warrior in her struggles. We were all amazed constantly on her ability to come back from every struggle with even more fight. Unfortunately, at the end of her life, the battles she fought were too strong, even for her. She gave all she could give to the fight.

Alicia is survived by her four beautiful children whom she loved to the ends of the earth, Landon, Carmine, Silas, and Marlee, her parents, Daniel Beck (Lynn) and Jennifer O'Neill (Jeff) as well as two younger sisters, Caressa Hollingshead (Brett), Tyrsa Harney (Chris) and her brother Nolan. She also had eight nieces and nephews that will miss her terribly. As well, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Sharon Nelson, and by her husband Alexander Kirk and his mother Mary Kirk.

Alicia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Barbara and Donald Beck and baby brothers Keenan, Caleb and Andrew, and her uncle James Novak.

Alicia had a soul that was filled with love and laughter. A soul that fought and fought through many struggles in her life. If she were to leave you with one lasting thought, it would be that you love those around you with all your heart. Don't ever stop showing your love for them. Shower those in your life with so much love that they are filled to the top with your love and then add more love because there's always room for more.

Alica, our time with you was far too short. We will all miss you every single day. We know that your body and soul are at peace and are watching over all of us and especially your children, We love you always and forever.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for their grace and kindness during the time of Alicia's care. Words can't express enough how caring they were for her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00 pm. We would love to hear your stories as you remember Alicia.
