Abelardo Tony Temprana

December 31, 1956 — October 10, 2025

Tony was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States in the late 1980s as a political refugee, he then became a legal permanent resident, settling in Des Moines, Iowa. Tony was a professional percussionist and musician for most of his life spent in the United States. He played drums with Jethro and The Junkyard Dogs, and The Melody Makers, both in Des Moines. He loved to ride motorcycles with his late partner of 20 years, Shannon Millard, who passed away in April 2023. Later in his life he took up the hobby of leather work to pass time.
